David was born and raised in central Texas and attended school at TSTI in Waco, Texas. He began his career in the materials testing field in 1975 in Houston, Texas, where he managed a materials testing firm for ten years. He then opened and operated his own material testing firm until 1988.

In 1988 he moved to southern California where he worked for a Geotechnical Engineering firm as their field supervisor. He worked on many different projects in California including: large mass grading, dams, canyon clean outs and residential. In Las Vegas, Nevada, he worked on projects such as: casino grading, residential, highways, high rise condos and a major residential/golf course community.

David joined the staff of GEM Engineering, Inc. in April of 2007. He has been promoted to senior technician and field supervisor. David holds a certificate from the American Concrete Institute.
