Jared is a Cedar City native.  He is a Cedar High School graduate.  He married Lisa Hunziker in 1994 and they have four children.  Jared attended Southern Utah University (SUU) and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Science – Geology in 1998. 

Since graduation Jared has gained experience with geotechnical, geological and materials testing in both the field and in the lab.  He worked as a field technician for Applied Geotechnical Engineering in St. George, Utah, as a Laboratory Supervisor for Jones and DeMille Engineering in Richfield, Utah, and moved back to Cedar City to work as Staff Geologist for Geo Consultants for four years before joining Joel in starting GEM Engineering, Inc. in 2005.

Jared is a Professional Geologist licensed in the state of Utah .  He has received many certifications for both field and laboratory testing from the Western Alliance for Quality Transportation (WAQTC) and the American Concrete Institute (ACI).
